George Jackson for Johnnie Taylor
Johnnie Taylor, the famous Stax soul singer (no relation to Larry) sang this minor-key blues on his 1996 Malaco album "Good Love." It was a huge hit on the chitlin circuit and spread into the white blues and soul audience. Larry adds some West Side emphasis, led by Osee Anderson on bass, Willie Davis on guitar, West Side Wes on drums, Mad Hatter on organ and Ronnie G on sax.
The lady at the casino, she lost all her money,
Said don't feel sorry for me, feel sorry honey,
If you wanna do a lady a favor, here's what you do,
Loan me two dollars, til the next time I see you.

These last $2, I'm not gonna lose
These last $2, I'm not gonna lose,
One for the bus fare, the other for the jukebox,
Gonna play me some blues...
